Skills
• Experience with VPC Security Load Balancers and EKS • Hands on experience with orchestration tools like Kubernetes and infrastructure provisioning tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. • Expert in building and maintaining highly available applications including redundancy fail over scalability monitoring and performance. • Strong experience with virtualization monitoring and automation. • Software development experience (both scripting and “programming” languages). • Advanced Linux System Administration skills. • Ability to organize troubleshoot and continuously learn. • Highly proficient in GoLang and have working knowledge of other languages with a preference for Java Clojure Python C# and JavaScript. • Understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery principles • Development/support of REST API interfaces streaming applications particularly Kafka Streams and KSQL. • Evaluating open source and vendor products. • Conducting hands on POCs to prove concepts/products. • Experience in engineering solutions for metrics gathering/publishing and event collection/correlation across distributed architectures automation monitoring intelligent alerting random fault injection (Chaos Engineering) and self-healing. • Experience with tuning high-volume applications • Strong understanding of concurrency patterns data structures and algorithms and strong understanding of domain driven design Microservices patterns and architectures. • Experience with high volume mission critical applications and building upon messaging and or event-driven architectures.Description
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is requesting the services of a Senior Architect to build, deliver and support cutting edge and next generation event streaming tools that solve operational problems. As an experienced member of this team you will apply your knowledge to the whole software development cycle for ODOT. You will work in a collaborative, trusting, thought-provoking environment that encourages diversity of thought and creative solutions that are in the best interests of our customers.
The selected candidate will join a team of curious problem solvers with diverse perspectives and insights. You will work directly with these and other teams in researching, building and implementing the solutions that will meet the project missions.
Responsibilities include some or all of the following:
• Collaborate with architecture and product teams during the design, requirement and implementation phases of new product development.
• Advise upon proper tools and processes that will enable long term transformation.
• Conducting hands on POCs to prove concepts/products.
• Developing and deploying applications to cloud platforms namely AWS & Azure
• Perform capacity planning and production readiness assessments
• Participate in development of the resource pool for the level 3 support and operational support team and be on call for level three support.
• Be an integral component in the demonstration and operation of CI/CD across the Department in developing the operational processes needed to bring the organization into the day to day use of current development and operations constructs.
