Description
Candidate must have a solid understanding of the optical network architecture as it pertains to a long haul, metro, and international application. The location is flexible. Fundamental understanding of the specifications of different optical fiber types, optical loss and link budgets, dispersion compensation, DWDM, SONET, & mesh technologies.o Engineering level understanding of 2 & 4 fiber BLSR and UPSR rings, protection configurations, synchronization, and timing specifications.o An engineering and technical knowledge of SONET and optical transport equipment including from various equipment manufactures (Tellabs/AlcatelLucent/Nortel/Ciena/Juniper)o Strong ability to use the full MS office suite of products including Visio.A working knowledge of data, wire line, and wireless networks, layer 2 & layer 3 switching architectures, application layer products and services; as well as, modeling design, and simulation systems are a plus.
