Description
Responsibilities Review database designs for integration with existing and planned databases, compliance with standards, and effective use of software features. This usually includes a review of the database design of software packages prior to purchase and all upgrades to existing software as well as all inhouse developed databases. Provide for efficient, reliable backup and recovery of all databases. Install, upgrade and maintain database backup and recovery software. This includes developing backup/recovery plans and enforcing retention policies, creating jobs, scheduling and monitoring. Maintain storage requirements (DASD) for all databases. Provide recommendation into the purchase of additional servers, memory, CPUs, and DASD. Determine necessary configuration for installation and communicate this information to the system administrator. Responsibilities also include performance analysis and load balancing of databases across DASD and servers. Maint
