Understand and apply advanced database administration, management and performance tuning techniquesProvide technical advice and expertise to less senior staff membersProvide 24x7 on call support as part of a scheduled rotation with other team membersProvide advanced technical troubleshooting for applications and database systems with emphasis on root cause analysisParticipate in design and application review sessions, assist with definition of computing standards and recommend policies related to those standardsConfigure and tune hardware and software to insure optimum performance and resource utilization.Provide technical advice on industry best practices for Business Intelligence systems, tactical queries, advanced analytics, and data mining.Provide creative solutions to challenges that come up, such as capacity, physical design, or workload balancing issues.Write and maintain documentation describing changes and modifications to all systems and databasesParticipate in meetings and conference calls related to project and troubleshooting activitiesPerform exports, backups and data extracts as requiredResearch solutions to various business and technical problems, evaluate alternatives and be able to present recommendations and justifications to managementProvide mentoring to fellow database administrators, systems programmers and othersAct as technical liaison in support for database related project activitiesDevelop strong working knowledge of key applications and their interaction with the database(s)
