Description
Monitoring to ensure that systems and backup performance and events are being continually monitored through a shift and that any problematic events are handled in such a way as to preserve service at the highest possible level. Use Tivoli Workload scheduler and Tivoli Tec to monitor the batch environment. Use Legato Networker to monitor the backup environment.Escalation To identify events and circumstances that require expert investigation or resolution and involve the appropriate people (including suppliers) in a timely manner. Ensure a problem tracking ticket is promptly generated for every abnormal event (i.e. Job failures)Restore Perform Legato restores as requested. Request restores from outsource vendor as agreed in the SLA contract.Changes To ensure that any changes to the system are timed and undertaken in such a way as to not affect service. Remedy is used for Change ManagementMedia to ensure that any media handling tasks are executed in a timely fashion, which includes ejecting/loading tapes from Silos, preparing tapes for shipment to offsite facility. Ensure sufficient scratch media is available to support the nightly batch cycle. Engage hardware vendors when tape silos need to be repaired.2. Work closely with and provide support to all the groups at the ITNA with regards to infrastructure performance backup/restore and scheduling. 3. Interact with all other performance tools being used at the ITNA to obtain data pertinent to backup and restore planning. 4. Maintain the collection of performance data within the backup infrastructure.
