C/C++/Perl or SQL/Unix or Linux Developer

Description

Candidate will be working as a senior software engineer in the Unix environment. Primary skills used will be Perl, Sybase, SQL and general Unix utilities. The successful candidate may work on any number of projects that may include writing data entry web pages, creating new automated data feeds, working with data analysts to define new QA tools, refactoring data flow processes, performing support of existing tools, performing bugfixes, and prototyping new systems on new hardware. The position will work with staff in multiple locations including St. Paul, New York, Beijing and Bangalore. Qualification Education Bachelors degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience. Required Skills (Must have), Necessary industry Experience & associated number of years of experience Demonstrated experience in all phases of the software development life cycle from requirements to design to release to ongoing maintenance of production systems. Knows how to balance foundations of design and abstraction with practical issues of maintainability, time constraints and simplicity. Strong analytic thinking skills able to take general requirements or problem statements and work up detailed implementation plans for the team to meet them. Detailoriented seeks to understand the why behind choices. Constantly looking to improve quality and maintainability of software and data. Seeks to understand all the working parts of complex systems. Excellent communication skills Communicates regularly, clearly and precisely, both verbally and in writing to members of the team, people related to the project, and to management (bridging business and technology). Ability to work in a multicultural environment. Four or more years programming in C, C++, or Perl; SQL (any variant). Four or more years experience with UNIX or Linux variant.
