Eligibility and Enrollment is migrating an App built in '00 from VB6 to VB.Net/C#. This is a multi year migration effort that will take 45 years. E&E is hiring 3 people to maintain and do future enhancements to existing app because they will be taking 3 people off the existing app to work on the migration effort. Consultant day to day responsibilities will be 1) production support and 2) enhancements both in VB6 and classic ASP. There are 20 people on this team. The team works closely with their business partners and supporting their needs is high on the priority list. This is a complex VB6 app and requires that candidates have current experience working on VB6 and SQL, somebody who has been working on it from '05 moving forward. VB6 and SQL and Distributed App's. Strong pluses (almost must have) ActiveX COM, COM+, DB2, ASP and IIS. Duties Is viewed as an expert in IT systems architecture. Undertakes complex projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge. Makes wellthoughtout decisions on complex or ambiguous IT architecture issues. Coordinates with users to determine requirements. Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency. Establishes and communicates common goal and direction for team. Acts as a resource for direction, training and guidance for less experienced staff. Monitors project schedules and costs. . Skills Proficient in VB 6.0, competent in SQL, work with IBM UDB and DB2 is a plus. Familiar with ActiveX COM technology. Experience with ASP and IIS required. Javascript knowledge a plus.Work assignments will integrate with development efforts in .NET. Familiar with C# .NET is a plus. NOTE POSITION IS LOCATED IN GLASTONBURY, CT. Education Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, at least six, typically eight or more years of solid, diverse work experience in IT, or the equivalent in education and work experience
