Annual Overweight Load Permits (AOL), SP Crane, and Bulk Milk permitsThe overall purpose is to automate the AOL permitting process via a browser interface. This AOL permitting system must automate a legacy system that is both manual and MS Access based. There will be two applications created as part of the new AOL Permit system an Internet application for Public, and Intranet application is for DOT. This assignment will include, but not be limited to, the following deliverables Internet Application (online) Create a public browser interface such that the user can register their information in the AOL Internet application for further records. In this public browser interface the admin must be able to validate the registration and enable the rights. Then the user can enter the application via online. The separate Permit service company and Permittee can maintained for each and every AOL user. Permit requests will be submitted online; the permit requests and ancillary documents can be reviewed by DOT staff for compliance and correctness. If there is an error on a permit request the DOT user will be able reject it, and the outside user (e.g. trucking firm) can edit/make corrections and resubmit the request. This outside user can also be enabled to replicate the reviewed/approved permits for additional instances of similar permit requests. The outside AOL user must be able to search all the requests they applied for. Intranet Application Create an internal browser interface such that a DOT user will have the ability to search the pending application via search by Permit Information, Permittee and Permit Service Company. For this application, the permit request and ancillary documents may be reviewed by DOT staff for compliance and correctness; the DOT user will be able to reject or approve the permit. The rejected/approved permit will be communicated via email to the various clients/trucking companies. A query of permits can be exported to an excel sheet for further records. Finally, the original AOL permits will be mailed in with remittances and ancillary documents (insurance, NYS registration, any correspondence) and the process/history will proceed. All relevant data VIN#s, weight's application #s, revenue figures etc can be transferred to an MS SQL Server 2005 database for analytical uses and management. User Access/Validation Create controls to enable the online user to securely enter into the system. User validation and User roles will be created by the admin to maintain various staff authorization levels. Permit Status Report Develop features for generating a permit status report. The complete permit status report is generated to view the status of the applications.Email Notification Develop an email notification feature to ensure better communication between the truck companies and NYC DOT Management.
