Description
As a contractor for the User Experience group within Clients Internet Services Group, the Accessibility Specialist will perform testing on various portions of the Client Permanente Web Presence using a screen reader to ensure compliance with Section 508 and the W3C WCAG (1.0 and 2.0). The testing process will include creating and testing key flows and tasks as well as conducting general audits of both existing features and preproduction features. Testing may occur alongside a usability engineer or other product representatives. The specialist will find, document and prioritize issues, and assist project teams in determining the appropriate solutions to enhance the accessibility of their features, presenting result to the project teams. The specialist may also assist in providing input in design considerations, recommending coding best practices. The Accessibility Specialist must have a strong JAWS skills and a good understanding of its HTML commands, as well as applicable accessibility features of browsers and operating systems. A good grasp of the various modes and cursors of JAWS is essential. In addition, the Accessibility Specialist will work with Operations and UX to develop an ongoing process to sustain accessibility compliance in the future. Ideally, this would include working with the departments to develop training for developers and QA testers. Job Requirements Experience testing and verifying compliance with Section 508 and the W3C WCAG 1.0 and 2.0. Experience testing webbased, publicfacing applications. Expert user of JAWS screen reader. Experience with JAWS 9 preferred. Expert knowledge of JAWS commands, such as Tabbed Browsing, Links, Headings, Forms, Tables, Frames, and Elements. Knowledge of advanced JAWS features is a plus. Strong communication skills (both written and oral) are a must. Familiarity with Section 508, W3C WCAG 1.0 and 2.0. Experience with HTML, Javascript, CSS and general web development is a plus.
