Remote Operations Center Network Engineer

Description

Network Engineer provides the ROC with networking expertise and management to maintain reliable performance among the networks upon which customer services and applications rely. The ROC Network Engineer handles customer and internal requests affecting the networks under the administration of the Operations team. Requirements include Experience with Cisco router commands and routing protocols Experience with Cisco ASA firewalls and understanding of stateful packet inspection Experience with server load balancing appliances Cisco ACS, F5 BigIP Experience with IPSEC VPN tunnels and VPN client services Experience with T1 and DS3 point to point connectivity Strong understanding of high availability fundamentals HSRP, VRRP Good understanding of LAN switching technologies STP, Trunking, Etherchannel Strong documentation skills Experience with management applications such as Remedy, CiscoWorks, Visio, HPOV alert management or equivalent Experience in an operations environment working with outside customers. Flexibility and dependability are the two most important characteristics required for this role. We are looking for a candidate with exceptional communication skills who can speak and write professionally with account teams, customers and other ROC members. This is a shift position working W, Th, F and every other Saturday 7pm to 7 30am. There are opportunities for overtime on other shifts. This is an intense environment and not for the timid, shy or nervous and will work part of the shift as the sole NE so self confidence is important. This position has the possibility of becoming permanent. This is an incredible environment offering exposure to many large names in the industry. Cross training on systems is a possibility if desired. Reliability and flexibility are very important characteristics. Note that this is NOT a telco environment or VOIP or wireless or cellular. This is in support of customer networks in the eCommerce/application hosting business.
