WebSphere Administrator The role of the WAS administrator will be to effectively and proactively administer all aspects of the WebSphere realm of servers that constitute our application environment. Currently the WebSphere realm required for deploying the application suite to includes WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment, WebSphere Portal and WebSphere Process Server nodes.The WAS Administrator must work with the customers IT staff to coordinate the successful implementation of the custom application suite into the WebSphere realm. This includes deploying, configuring and administering all applications and the WebSphere products that constitute the deployment environment. Coordinating tasks across functional areas of the customers IT department including the system OS (AIX), network administration, mainframe operations, databases, system monitoring and security software.Day to day operations and responsiveness for problem resolution as well as instituting proactive measures to identify and correct issues before they affect the business team Performance monitoring & tuning of all WebSphere server instances such as portal, application, process, content manager. Install and administer IBM HTTP Server v6.0.2x Performance monitoring & tuning of all database instances Capacity planning Implementation & maintenance of WebSphere and Database servers including the application of vendor supplied fixpacks and upgrades. Deploy RAR files Clustering of application servers Production Turnover Configuration Management Support for Development Projects Support of all backup and restore processes on multiple LPARS including production, nonproduction, and disaster recovery Develop and oversee the execution of plans designed to meet client technical requirements 24 x 7 support of the environments Researches new technologies and systems that may provide improvements to existing systems and applications Required Skills The successful candidate will be capable of demonstrating effective trouble shooting qualities such as detailed analysis and a methodical resolution approach during stressful situations.Clear, concise communication skillsConfiguration, installation & administration of WebSphere application, portal, process server, and content managerAIX/UNIX operating systemNetwork (routing, DNS, NAT, TCPIP, troubleshooting, etc.)WebSphere server & DB2 database performance tuningClusteringHigh availabilityExperienced in production support on the following items Creating & deploying builds
