MySQL DBA

Description

VMIX is looking for a Senior MySQL DBA to join their growing team. The Database Administrator will work with the Development and Operations teams to provide 24x7 support, while partnering with Engineering units in developing new applications and enterprisewide solutions. The ideal candidate is a selfstarter and a creative problem solver with a passion for innovation. The candidate will plan and test for database recovery, coordinate and document development of standards, independently trouble shoot performance issues, write shell scripts and lastly research new technology and methodologies. This position requires the administration of horizontally partitioned MySQL 5.0 and 5.1 databases in both clustered and replicated environments using major storage engines (MyISAM, InnoDB, etc) and DRBD, and requires an strong working knowledge of RedHat Linux.Responsibilities Provides day to day administration of databases installations and upgrades, performance monitoring and tuning, application support and optimization, backup and recovery, troubleshooting, space management and capacity planning and resolving SQL errors and failures, auditing activities, and resource utilization. Defines database definition, structures, documentation, upgrades, requirements, and operational guidelines. Ensures data and system protection. Work with application development teams on new application development.Research new database technology and methodologies.Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesRequired 5+ years experience with relational database systems with 2+ years of hands on MySQL administration experience with MySQL 5.0/5.1 (InnoDB and MyISAM Storage Engines).Experience with High Availability Clustering with DRBD and Heartbeat.Experience with MySQL replication (mastermaster, masterslave, cluster replication)Experience working with backup management tools (LVM, Hotbackup, Xtra)Solid knowledge of Stored Procedure and Triggers with MySQL.Solid knowledge in schema design principals.
