Description

Design and support Data Base infrastructure.Capacity Planning all Data Base Systems.Help establish and publish standards for configure Data Bases on different server platforms. Monitor adherence to the standards.Help establish, publish and monitor adherence to security standards for access to the Data Bases.Day to day production support including checking daily logs, backup/recovery procedures, disaster recover, periodic maintenance.Implementation of monitoring tools.Provide Capacity planning and Security Administration reports.Design, write or reengineer Data Base script to enhance functionality of system.Automate system processes.Monitoring.Identify, evaluate and recommend the purchase of software, hardware or services that can be used to improve the performance of this group.Perform Data Base upgrades.Supervise Hardware installs as needed.Work closely with other departments in the definition, implementation and deployment of new initiatives.When on call provide 24/7 support for various database servers. Respond in a timely manner to all alerts. Assist related IS&T groups in debugging production issues.When handling user requests fulfill user requests in a timely manner, adhering to change control processes.JOB SKILLS Expertlevel knowledge in Data Base administration.Expertlevel knowledge in backup design and support.Ability to define and implement solutions with minimal guidance.Expertlevel knowledge of application servers/middleware products.Intense desire to create new and innovativesolutions.Ability to define short, mid and longterm goals.Detail and process oriented.Ability to work independently on large projects.Excellent communication skills written and verbal.Excellent time management skills for handling multiple projects.Excellent organizational and followup skills.Expertlevel database administration skills required for Sybase and MySQL Server; optional for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Verity Search Server.Expertlevel replication skills for Sybase and MySQL.Programming skills for Perl and shell, including database access utilities (DBI/DBD, Sybperl, etc.)
