To understand the customers business and use technical excellence to identify, design and deliver architectures, strategies and specific solutions that add value to the customers businessesTo propose and prepare Technical solution including Technical Architecture (software, hardware, Firmware, utilities, tools, networking, intranet/internet etc.). Maintains a strong awareness of the developments and offerings in the IT industry, but is not limited to specific technology areasStrong consulting skills, demonstrating customer focus and service provider orientation Responsible for ensuring the overall integrity of the technical solution, including the selection and approval of appropriate technologies, processes, tools, methods, techniques and standards Responsible to ensure solutions fit within the overall IT architecture Designs new solution of significant size and complexity, often requiring design from basic principles. Manages the work of specialists contributing to design. Exercises design control over the implementation Responsible for ensuring that the project designs comply with National Grids overall group strategy and core architecture Advocate and champion enterprise wide interests in all IS projects and services Ability to effectively research and evaluate new technologies that would benefit the clients/IS organisation Ability to draft documentation to promote standards for best practices and procedures Excellent people, team work and leadership skills Strong analytical skills, ability to recommend viable solutions to technical challenges Ability to learn and adapt to changing priorities and business needs Good written and oral communication
