Network Engineer

Description

The Network Engineers role is to ensure the availability, stability, andintegrity of Kaiser Permanentes data, voice, video, and wireless networkservices. This is achieved by planning, designing, and implementing localarea networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and wireless LANs(WLANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer willparticipate in the installation, maintenance, support, and optimization of allnetwork hardware, software, and communication links. This individual willalso analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in atimely and accurate fashion. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop and present network engineering design packages. Develop lowlevel design documentation. Plan, Design, and Implement Local Area Networks, includingdevelopment of configurations. Plan, Design, and Implement Wide Area Networks, includingdevelopment of configurations. Plan, Design, and Implement Wireless LANs, including development ofconfigurations. Knowledge of Voice over IP (VoIP) Networks, including development ofconfigurations. Implement routing protocols, including EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP. Troubleshooting and problem solving for network and application issues. Configure and assist with implementation of network hardware, includingrouters, switches, wireless access points, Voice gateways, etc. Create and maintain network documentation as it relates to networktopology, equipment, and configuration. Interact and negotiate with vendors, consultants, and contractors todesign and implement network solutions. Perform network asset management, including maintenance of networkcomponent inventory and related documentation and technicalspecifications information. Make use of standard operating procedures and applications for service,change, and incident management.
