Project Manager/ Data Systems

Description

The Project lead will be responsible for putting together and managing a team of people to build out the vision and approach for building the system with out partners. the candidate will establish an overall project plan and in the first instance prepare to successfully win the RFP. On winning the RFP the candidate will execute the plan to build the system on time and on budget against aggressive timescales. Reports to VP & MD BRI Responsible for Orchestrating preparation and submission of RFP response to successfully win multimillion multiyear TARP transparency contract Managing operational relationship with data partners, including specs, data delivery and successfully leveraging expertise at partners to construct and then improve the use of their data in the overall system. Ensures formal agreements are put in place with data and integration partners. Working with partners to define and build project prototype for the RFP Overall success of project and ongoing maintenance and enhancement of dataset provided by Dow Jones through the multiyear contract The Project P&L, working with internal and external partners to define and manage overall budgets to ensure target margins and overall project ROI Building and managing aggressive project timelines and internal and external resources to successfully complete the project on time and on budget Leveraging cross functional resources across Dow Jones to successfully complete the project including finance, legal, publisher relations, content operations and technology Managing interdependencies with integration partners, IBM and Teradata. Setting up clear communication channels and review processes. Manages expectations, delivery dates and provides a critical communications channel between all parties Recruits and manages team of financial operations contractors and product development managers to capture clear requirements for the project, working closely with customer and integration partners Actively managing issues and project risks to ensure that timelines and delivery dates are met. Reporting to Dow Jones senior management weekly project status Key Relationships Finance and senior management to refine P&L and manage forecasting and performance against it Publisher relations to manage data partners and use of Dow Jones Factiva content in the system Legal to manage T&Cs for data partners and rights. Also works to define and implement agreements with Integration partners and overall contracts with the Government Technology to manage the development goals and delivery for the project Overall IBM project lead plus lead contacts at Teradata and at data partners Content operations to manage data quality, accuracy and completeness and to review and identify best of breed content sources for the project Sales and account management to manage customer and partner needs and expectations Sales, marketing and Newscorp lobbyists to manage the legislative sales process Skills and Experience Proven ability to deliver a large multimillion dollar project on time and on budget, preferably with multiple partners Significant project management experience required Experience in successfully running a project P&L Ability to lead, provide structure and discipline to the project team and to lead and manage cross functional teams across Dow Jones and our partners 10 years of experience working with company/financial data, aggregation, concordance and data warehousing experience Proven ability to understand technical projects and to lead requirements definition Strong written and verbal communication skills
