Gap Inc. Direct (GID) is the ecommerce division of Gap Inc. responsible for the development and maintenance of awardwinning retail websites for gap.com, oldnavy.com, bananarepublic.com and piperlime.com. GID has an opening for a Lead Software Developer to help us design, prototype, develop and test user interface (UI) functionality for new and existing web applications.Essential Functions Work with design and business stakeholders in gathering requirements for new features or feature enhancements a.k.a. ask the right questions to ensure that requirements are clear and system capabilities/limitations are known Coordinate with fellow developers, architects and QA automation engineers during technical design and prototyping Provide technical expertise and thoughtleadership with respect to frontend technologies Javascript, CSS, XHTML, DHTML, crossbrowser strategies, useraccessibility standards (e.g., 508) Develop frontend application code for both consumer ecommerce web sites and internaluser content management tools (within J2EE web application environment) Perform unit and crossbrowser testing and provide guidance/support during QA testing Support (2nd level) and troubleshoot problems with existing applicationsQualifications At least 5 years of web application development experience Fluency with frontend technologies Javascript, CSS, XHTML, HTML, XML/DOM Advanced experience developing Object Oriented JavaScript; using JSON and/or Javastyle data structures and design patterns to create dynamic and stable routines and DOM objects Familiarity with AJAXrelated libraries e.g. Prototype, Dojo, DWR, GWT, script.aculo.us, moo.fx, etc. Experience with servlets, JSP, Struts/Tiles or other Javabased UI framework. Experience with relational databases and data access (JDBC/DAO/SQL) Experience developing and testing crossbrowser/platform web sites Experience with version control systems like Subversion and IDEs like Eclipse Experience with Agile software development and be able to explain the difference as compared to Waterfall development methods Excellent problem solving skills; meticulous & methodical Selfmotivated team player with excellent time management and communication skills
