Job description SummaryThe Market Risk Management & Analysis (MRMA) group is responsible for calculating, for all trading desks and all financial products globally, the Firms trading risks arising from market factors. These calculations are analyzed and reported to a variety of audiences, including trading desks themselves, as well as senior management of the Firm, and external regulators. MRMA interacts closely with trading desks for the production of these calculations, as position information, market sensitivities, and pricing calculators are shared between the front office and MRMA.Market Risk Technology (MRT) provides primary Application Development and Technical Support to the MRMA group. MRT is a global team of over 100 developers located in New York, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Bangalore.We are looking for a strong Sybase IQ technologist serve in an Application DBA role. This role would include working with developers and development teams on design and performance review of database components of our application, as well as participating in the maintenance, enhancement, and daily operation of the existing capabilities, including typical DBA tasks (server configuration, backup, management). Ideal candidates will possess a combination of strong Sybase IQ technical skills, ideally with some knowledge of Sybase ASE and/or IBM DB2 as well.Principal ResponsibilitiesWork with Market Risk Technology developers to assist in design and rollout of new software on the Sybase IQ platform. Responsibilities would span technical design, development, testing, tuning, release and support.Along with Firmwide DBA team, take responsibility for operation of Market Risk Technology database servers, including Sybase ASE, IBM DB2 and Sybase IQ.Experience / SkillsRequired Significant expertise and professional experience in Sybase IQ operations and administration Track record of technical excellence with an emphasis on quality and focus on testing and continuous improvements Strong communication skills Strong initiative and sense of ownership Working knowledge and proficiency in software engineering principles applicable to large systems Willingness to learn and work with a proprietary development platform and language (SecDB and Slang)Preferred Knowledge of Sybase ASE and/or IBM DB2 Knowledge of some area of trading, and basic familiarity with one or more categories of financial instruments
