Description
Chartis is looking for an independent yet teamoriented, customeroriented, enthusiastic Senior Database Administrator (6 years + experience) to join DBA team. DBA work experience and knowledge of DB2 / zOS platform. One other open systems platforms such as ORACLE/UDB/Sybase is a plus. Knowledge of ETL tools such as AbInitio and DataStage is also a plus. The applicant should be able to perform database administration duties including software installation, patching, backup and recovery, performance tuning, monitoring and DR participation. In addition, the applicant may be asked to perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Detailed responsibilities include Installing and upgrading the RDBMS server and application tools Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system Creating primary database storage structures after application developers / DAs have designed an application Creating primary objects (tables, views, and indexes) once application developers / DAs have designed an application Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers Enrolling users and maintaining system security Ensuring compliance with RDBMS license agreement Controlling and monitoring user access to the database Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database Planning for backup and recovery of database information Maintaining archived data on tape Backing up and restoring the database Contacting RDBMS vendor for technical support
