Job description Database Administrator provides database administration (DBA) support for multiple applications employing one or more of the DBMS platforms DB2 UDB and/or SQL Server, Oracle this is a senior role, may require to lead/manage DBA teams. Collaborate with DB Engineering in Requirements gathering for new and existing projects releases Provide Sizing Estimates for new releases Participate in Database design for new releases utilizing standard guidelines and design patterns Design DB changes in support of major application releases or logical design changes Implement DB Changes for new releases Development and Test/QA environments Application Development Support DDL implementation and maintenance. Includes DDL/Schema changes implementation in development, test, and production systems. Package changes for production deployments and turnover to Operations Development of DB administration jobs for supported applications, test in dev/qa/test systems. Automation Develop / Test Standard Operating Procedures Level 3 support Advanced troubleshooting Schedule, receive approval, and implement database related patches. This may include software patches or security related patches. Assist in ongoing security remediation tasks, to comply with internal database security requirements. Refresh data and/or schema in development and test environments. Provide firstlevel response to end user queries (application support teams, development or QA teams, project managers) Required Skills 12+ years of DBA Experience on DB2 UDB on Unix ( AIX, Solaris ) required. Candidates must be well versed with DB2 UDB V8 and V9 Database administration on UNIX platforms. Experience with SQL Server, Oracle is desired but not mandatory. Understanding of database administration concepts, policies, procedures, and best practices. Expertise in backup/recovery/failover methods and best practices Experience with developing, enhancing and managing UNIX shell scripts Knowledge of Highavailability and Disaster Recovery solutions with DB2 UDB Team player with excellent analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication Nice to have Experience with Enterprise ticketing systems like BMC Remedy, Newscale Experience with documenting and/or maintaining standard operating procedures
