Network Administrator

Job Description The Network Administrator will administer small group of networked systems including backing up all systems appropriately and ensuring redundancy for business continuity. This candidate will perform a variety of maintenance, evaluation, installation, and training tasks to enable users to maximize productivity. S/He will plan and develop network resources, and evaluates and/or recommend hardware and software purchases. Essential Job Functions Administers a small network consisting of about 50 workstations and 10 servers Assists users with the systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties Installs, configures, and maintains personal computers, file servers, Ethernet networks, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures modems, disk drives, printers, and related equipment Performs and/or oversees software and hardware installation, and upgrades Responsible for ensuring accurate backups of all systems are conducted as required and that redundant systems are in place as needed Plans and oversees the implementation of network security, including building firewalls, file permissions, and file system integrity, and adding and deleting users Assists with various training and instruction for system users on specific operating systems, software and hardware in use in the department/organization; assists users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems Maintains a broad knowledge of stateoftheart technology, equipment, and/or systems Evaluates and/or recommends purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software Maintains software licenses for organization Performs other related duties as assigned, provided the necessary skill, stability, physical capability and knowledge and/or training enable such duties to be performed Job Experience Must have at 5+ years of network administration and desktop support experience Must have knowledge of server and client operating systems and networking protocols Must have knowledge and experience administering Windows Active Directory, VMware/VSphere, Microsoft Exchange, Backup Exec, and antivirus (Symantec or Forefront) administration; Citrix and SharePoint administration experience highly desirable Must have experience configuring firewalls, Switches and Routers Ability to learn and adopt new technologies Familiarity with access control and change control procedures (SOX) Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to communicate and work with vendors Strong organizational skills Strong analytical and decisionmaking skills Must have some 2 or 4 year degree from a university or technical college, with a concentration in Computer Science, Networking or another closely related field or equivalent work experience. Microsoft certification highly desirable
