Job Description We are looking for a Senior SAN Engineer with at least 5 years of focused storage experience in a large enterprise level environment preferable in a financial services organization or some other highly regulated environment like pharmaceuticals. This Sr. SAN Engineer will get 25 requests for storage per week. For example file shares, DBAs need expansion, and new systems being implemented so data needs to be stored. This Engineer will send the request to the offshore team in Mexico (Softtek) and the offshore team will come up with what array the data will be stored on (a storage array strategy) and send the plan back to our guy. The plan will be reviewed by our TP and any corrections will be made by him. The offshore team is almost always off with their respective storage array strategy by a small margin. Our TP will not only correct but help train the offshore team to become more proficient and efficient at developing storage array strategies. This TP will also be given other tasks as needed to fill in a full 40 hour work week. Additional Job Info Internal / External Customer (Memo) The end users are Application developers implementing new systems that need storage, DBAs that need to expand availability in their databases by archiving data, and financial analysts who need to share files with banks around the world. Business Challenge to Solve (Memo) The business challenge is that the perm employee that is responsible for this function is leaving the company with two weeks notice. This employee is the only person on the team who knows how to do this work and has exposure to the top 3 technologies described above. The other significant factor is that the senior offshore member who was most proficient at building storage array strategies also quit leaving a huge knowledge gap in this area. If this is not done according to standards set by the federal gov't GE will be required to pay heavy financial penalties. This could also lower their credit rating and reduce their stock price. Hours of OT anticipated Shifts / Hours 8 00AM 5 00PM Work Environment Financial services. Travel Details EVP This environment is state of the art. This role could turn into a perm job.
