Linux/ JBOSS Systems Administrator

Position Description We're looking for highly technical, hands‐on Linux and JBOSS systems administrators to work in a team of engineers, systems and network administrators. Next Jumps enterprise systems team is directly responsible for Next Jumps uptime record and is the guardian/custodian of the end‐to‐end performance and reliability of Next Jumps user‐facing services. This is a hybrid team (engineering and operations‐oriented), consisting of software engineers, systems administrators, and operations architects. In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for ensuring that users can always reach and use all of the services under your team's care. Our systems administrators need to be technical leaders and motivators who are comfortable in a high‐pressure, dynamic and global environment. Jobs are broadly defined and interact with product management, developers, and other groups at Next Jump.Responsibilities Setup, configure and maintain a stable JBOSS/Apache/Linux infrastructure and deliver the support services necessary to support the business and application needs;Work closely with the applications development staff to manage the various components of the environment;Candidate will assist in researching new technologies to improve existing environments and be proactive in problem mitigation;After hours/weekend hours in support of production outages and in support of aggressive project deadlines is required.Requirements BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Equivalent Technical field;2‐6 years progressive experience in IT;Linux on customer‐facing servers (preferably Red Hat Enterprise distribution);PHP, Apache, JBOSS end‐to‐end administration;Data center operations;Network security;Hands on experience with relational databases and coding expertise in Java EE/JDBC/EJB/JSP are strongly preferred.
