BUSINESS UNIT OVERVIEWThe Controllers Technology department, whose role in general is to ensure accurate, transparent and controlled reporting to internal clients and external regulatory bodies. The group is spread across the New York, London, Tokyo and India regions. It includes a dynamic team of talented junior and senior developers, technical architects, and functional analysts who work in concert, employing agile methodologies, to deliver high profile projects.Within Controllers Technology, We support the Global Financial Reporting Function at Goldman SachsOur key deliverables are used by the CFO and by senior management in the Controllers Division.We provide daily, monthly, and quarterly P&L, Segment, Expense, Budget, Allocation, and analytical reporting capability. Our users number in the thousands, and include people from all Divisions and Offices of the Firm. We strive to continuously add additional value by Delivering critical P&L information to senior management intelligently, accurately, and meaningfully Empowering global users to identify and analyze costs across all services and activities. This analysis ultimately impacts key business decisions. Add efficiencies, value, and knowledge. We rely heavily on Data Warehousing and utilize best of breed tools to support transformation, master data management and business intelligence. Our applications include custom development of java / database processes as well as a great reliance on the innovative use and extension of tools from vendors such as Oracle, IBM, Informatica and Adobe. RESPONSIBILIITESThe primary responsibility will be to understand controllers business and functional requirements and to help develop technical solutions to these. In addition the candidate will be required to gain knowledge of the existing system and product lines in order to support the system and controllers who use it.The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects in the team, with a mix of both a functional and a technical aspects and the opportunity to learn the business from experts. This is a developer role and candidates would expect to spend much of their time on code development activities, working with the technology teams and technical architects globally. However, the role also requires a significant amount of functional and technical analysis, working closely with the Controllers user group in order to gather requirements and produce designs. The remainder of the time would be spent on supporting new and existing applications. This role will involve working with a global team offering an opportunity to interact and learn from other senior members throughout the organization.The following technical skills are considered mandatory ESSBASE entrylevel to 5 years Working knowledge of Relational databases and SQL Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition(OBIEE) Practical and proven technical design and systems analysis skills, backed up by realproject implementation experience using ESSBASE, EIS, database architecture and modelling. Experience of working in Unix/Linux environment Bachelor degree from an accredited college or universityThe successful candidate will also Demonstrate strong problem solving & analytical skills.
