Unix Engineer

Description

The Open Systems Group performs hardware system staging for Unix and Linux environments and interfaces directly with the Datacenter Infrastructure, Enterprise Technology Production Assurance, and Networking departments. Group responsibilities include Responsible for coordinating production environment changes with the Technology Operations Command Center (TOCC) in order to maintain a stable production environment Monitors system capacity and provides insight on Capacity Planning initiatives Develops relationships with client Group business partners and establishes direct channels with critical, backend vendor support personnel Continually develops expertise in technologies that improve the speed of electronic trading system applications and works closely with Development Department to test various lab benchmarks to determine the best technology combinations Responsible for installing patches, installs device drivers, installs third party software, and configures network interfaces Performs hardware troubleshooting, manages spare part inventory, opens trouble tickets, and schedules hardware repairs / service calls Responsible for hardware inventory, database inventory updates, hardware migrations, and removal of endoflife hardware Responsible for the configuration, testing, implementation, and troubleshooting of Linux systems including web services, FTP services, EMail, and DNS
