Description
Java and Flex are the key skills. They use Flex 3. (Flex 4 was released in March. They haven't gone to it.) Although Flex work is a big piece, she needs someone who is more rounded than just doing Flex frontend work. No DBA on staff. Developers need to know SQL. Won't get it handed to them by a DBA. They do not have Oracle, only SQL Server. She likes maintenance developers to be able to take a task and run with it. Also, be willing to explore new ways of doing things. Had someone who took 2 days, with approval, to figure out how to get some new tool integrated that helped everyone. She liked that kind of initiative. Vendor helped them get started on a Java architecture 78 years ago. We created a Struts framework that our guys had customized. They are still using this framework because it would take a lot of work to get away from it. They do not use Hibernate or Spring which are higher level frameworks that do a lot of the work for you. A developer who is used to that world may have trouble in their environment because, in their environment, you have to do some work in the deeper layers. Had one contractor (ours) leave after three days. She was completely lost without the frameworks she was used to.
