Java Consultant with GIS

Description

Responsible for analysis, design, coding and testing of new applications or enhancements to existing applications using Javabased technologies, including Java, J2EE, JSP, XML, JDBC, and Servlets. Must be able to apply SDLC concept and have a proven track record of delivering solid, robust applications. Must have a solid understanding of Object Oriented Programming. Strong communication skills are required as position will interact with business owners. 6+ years of prior Java development experience required.Job Summary Technical expertise in web development, as well as ability to define and document technology system scope, objectives, and requirements. Primary Activities and Responsibilities Create system designs to facilitate the interoperability of largescale business systems for new web applications that provide functionality supporting railroad activities. Research, analyze, and define business solutions of large systems scope and complexity. Prepare detailed specifications for large complex projects and design solutions for complex business problems. Document test cases, expected test results, test data requirements, and collaborate with testing teams and business partners to resolve testing problems. Code, debug, test and support utilities, tools, and frameworks to support the application development process. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree required in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems/Technology 5 or more years experience required in Software Applications Design and Development EquivalentMinimum Qualifications High School diploma/GED or Associates degree required 7 or more years experience required in Software Applications Design and DevelopmentPreferred Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems/Technology AND 7 or more years of experience in Software Applications Design and DevelopmentRequired Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) methodology Knowledge of Java 1.5+ JavaScriptAJAX Knowledge of HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) and XML (eXtensible Markup Language) Knowledge of WebSphere 6.1+ Knowledge of RAD 7.0+ (Rational Application Developer) application development skills or other eclipse based tool Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts Programming skills Preferred Knowledge and Skills Ability to use multiple tools and techniques to facilitate the design, development, and integration of business systems in a web environment Ability to develop contingency plans, analyze systems for efficiencies, and develop test case scenarios Ability to communicate effectively (both written and orally) with all levels of audiences Knowledge of Oracle database management system (DBMS) and PL/SQL Knowledge of Agile Scrum methodologies and their application Knowledge of Rational Version control tools (ClearCase/ClearQuest) Knowledge of change management processes Experience with EXT JS helpful Experience with JSF Experience in developing web applications in both IE and Firefox
