Goldman Sachs is seeking a Unix Systems Administrator to be part of a global IT Operations team. Candidate must be experienced in the operational and architectural support of Unix Systems Administration, including design, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Experience and knowledge of Linux and Solaris operating systems required, including TCP/IP concepts, LVM, DNS, NIS, NFS, LDAP, Kerberos, SAN, NAS, and data protection technologies (understanding of Legato, EMC/Netapp products, Sybase and UDB/DB2 helpful). Candidate must know shell/perl scripting. Candidate will also be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of several enterprisewide server installations. Candidate must have solid oral and written communication and organizational skills, and be comfortable working in a geographically diverse environment Basic Qualifications Goldman Sachs is seeking a Unix Systems Administrator to be part of a global IT Operations team. Candidate must have solid oral and written communication and organizational skills, and be comfortable working in a geographically diverse environment Preferred Qualifications The candidate should also meet these additional requirements Strong interpersonal and communication skills; making presentations to customer or client audiences or professional peers, and working independently on problem solving. Is experienced with most aspects of system administration; for example, configuration of serverbased systems, system installation and configuration, fundamentals of security, installing thirdparty software. Ability to solve problems quickly and completely. Ability to identify tasks which require automation and automate them. A solid understanding of a serverbased operating system; understands paging and swapping, interprocess communication, file system concepts, can use performance analysis to tune systems. Familiarity with fundamental distributed computing environment concepts. Ability to program in an administrative language is a plus (VBscript, Perl, CGI), familiarity with HTML. Ability to create reports on trend \ gap analysis and provide recommendation to address the risks. Must be able to sustain a high rate of workflow and work on multiple projects. Knowledge of Monitoring and Performance Management tools Must have exposure to the project management role in an enterprise environment
