Job Summary As a Unix Systems Administrator you will work as part of a highly technical team of professionals who support the daytoday management and operations of NetApp's Unix Systems. You will utilize your strong technical background and related experience to positively contribute to the department's goals and vision for advancing NetApp's storage infrastructure. To be successful you will need a strong technical orientation; be a creative problem solver; have excellent customer service skills; have a desire to advance in the field; and work well in a teamoriented environment. Essential Functions The Unix systems Administrator 3 works as part of Unix Administration team providing 24x7 operational support for Unix based servers in the Corporate Datacenters including general administration and management. Your specific areas of responsibilities include Perform monitoring and maintenance of overall Unix server operating systems and applications. Provide troubleshooting for assigned level, operating system upgrades, capacity planning and provisioning on a daily basis. Update process documentation and team websites as required. Provide analysis of performance while identifying issues and working with more experienced team members for resolution. Manage load configurations and provide recommendations for improving performance. Work with more Senior Systems Administrators on review of entire environment and executing initiatives to reduce failures, defects and improving overall performance. Participate in a 24x7 oncall duty rotation. Communicate with internal customers, peers, and managers regarding Unix Systems administration issues. Manage equipment tracking (e.g. racking, decommissioning, etc.). Perform offhour change controls. Work with experienced Systems Administrators on maintenance of environment. Provide instructions and guidance on best practices to junior members of the team. Use scripting languages to automate tasks and gather data. Communicate with internal customers, peers, and managers regarding database administration issues, and recommend solutions.Knowledge of TCP/IP networkingActive DirectoryDNSUnix Account ManagementFile permissions Advanced knowledge of Unix operating systems. Efficient user of Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Work, Outlook and Visio Ability to follow and adhere to policies, procedures and standards relating to Sysems management. Ability to work a 24x7 oncall rotation schedule.Responsibility and Interaction The tasks this individual is responsible for are often nonroutine and unstructured, requiring creative solutions.This individual will apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving routine to moderately complex problems.
