Job Description The individual hired for the SAP Service Design Engineer position will be the Subject Matter Expert for the SAP supply chain processes [Sales and Distribution module] implemented in Microsoft. As a senior member of the SAP Operations team, the individual will be responsible for supporting a broad spectrum of enterprise business processes that use SAP supply chain processes. Core Job Responsibilities Responsibility for Service Design Engineering of the SAP Sales and Distribution solutions. Reworking of existing applications and processes and/or designing of new applications and processes for optimized Operations. Business Requirements Planning Contributes to requirements reviews for solutions which results in alignment between multiple programs or services and the business strategy and ensures plan or strategy buyin Service Architecture Applies appropriate standards, principles, guidelines, patterns and artifacts of architecture, which results in standard and quality systems Service / System Design Designs service specifications that meet business requirements by analyzing solution priorities and service or system processes Design Review Conducts design reviews and ensures that application designs adhere to architecture standards, overall roadmap, and meet customer requirements Deliver excellent service and support to internal customers and partners. Position will be responsible for monitoring progress against service level agreements. Position is responsible for ensuring each reported problems are resolved in a timely manner, tracked according to standards, and escalated problems are resolved as appropriate. Excellent Problem Analysis and troubleshooting skills are required. Solving high complexity issues, and communicating problem resolution and additional information to management, executive leadership, customer groups, project teams and other IT support groups. Significant contributions to our knowledge management database as well as information and metrics published on our internal web site. Managing specific initiatives designed to enhance the SAP system and increase system supportability and performance. Examples include data archiving, security enhancements and data volume and operation change requests. Facilitating post mortem discussions, investigating root cause analysis and driving the resolution. Facilitating the quarterly release process the means by which new functionality and changes are applied to the SAP production systems. Responsibilities include review of Business Unit IT requirements analysis, participation in specification and test plan review. Successful facilitation of this process ensures realistic and practical changes to the SAP environment while meeting the business requirements. Act as gatekeeper of the SAP SCM landscape to ensure scalability, supportability is built into the design of new SAP implementations. Developing strong collaborative relationships with local and regional Business Unit IT teams to deliver reporting solutions to the business. Developing strong collaborative relationships with local and regional SAP ABAP development, test, analyst and engineering teams to evaluate, implement and support new functionality on a quarterly basis. Extended coverage outside of normal work hours may be required. Unique Job Responsibilities Candidates should have expertise in several of the following areas. Primary functional experience in SAP R/3 Sales and Distribution. Secondary functional experience in SAP R/3 Materials Management, Finance, GTS, ABAP programming/debugging. Program management Managing internal projects, processes, service, and technology decisions. Qualifications Include This position requires strong communication skills, great organizational agility, and technical writing skills. Candidates must function well in a team environment. Candidates need to be organized with a proven ability to make the correct decisions under pressure. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are required. Candidates must be able to troubleshoot and the ability to analyze complex problems quickly is a MUST for this position. A minimum of 58 years of demonstrated work experience in SAP Sales and distribution module (including configuration and program analysis). A BA/BS degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business or related field preferred. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multitask. The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidate must have an excellent understanding of Microsoft products, software lifecycle methodology and information systems development and support. Must be able to participate in a team environment and operate individually. Excellent problem resolution, analysis and customer service skills required. Must have ability to exercise sound judgment and decisionmaking. A solid knowledge of MOF and/or ITIL and the practical application of these methodologies a strong plus. A detailed understanding of the Service Design Engineering role and demonstrated practical application is essential.
