Primary Responsibilities Assistance in the installation of new applications which have database requirements Monitor database performance and tune where necessary Test databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications. Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes as necessary. Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish the project Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information in databases against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure Specify users and user access levels for each segment of databases Develop methods for integrating different products so they work properly together, such as customizing commercial databases to fit specific needs Review procedures in database management system manuals for making changes to database Identify and evaluate industry trends in database systems to serve as a source of information and advice for upper management Required Skills/Knowledge 5+ YEARS DBA EXPERIENCE1. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, in technical and nontechnical topics. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority. 2. RDBMS technologies Sybase ASE, Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2018 and SQL Server cluster experience required. Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise, Oracle, MySQL and IBM DB2 beneficial. 3. SQL Server Integration Services including package design, deployment and maintenance. 4. MS Analysis Services design, deployment and maintenance. 5. Database replication technologies SQL Server Replication required, Sybase Replication Server beneficial. 6. Windows batch scripting and UNIX shell scripting. Experience Needed This position requires a detailed understanding of Relational Database technologies and how they interact with applications across multiple platforms. The candidate must also be familiar with Windows and UNIX platforms and be comfortable scripting and with basic operating system navigation. In addition to these skills the candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, excel at project management and be familiar with advanced operational processes and procedures in dealing with large database implementations. Educational Background Required 1. Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Management Information Services, or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
