Description
The role of the Development Business Analyst/Project Manager is to work as a liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams to create technical documentation on how a project will be developed and implemented for US Airways Web site(s) and related internal software applications. This position works sidebyside with Business Product Managers and Content group to understand the product requirements and translate them into a working set of functional requirements. Methods for collecting data could be using interviews, document analysis, site visits, business analysis, and task/workflow analysis. In addition, the BA/PM plans, executes, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget for US Airways Web site(s) and related internal software applications. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and thirdparty contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. Focuses on meeting project commitments, including communications with sponsors, stakeholders, etc. The BA/PM will also define the projects objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Critically analyzes and evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, including Business Requirements, and works with Technical team to develop functional specifications and system design specifications, including but not limited to Functional Specifications Requirements Traceability Matrices Work Breakdown Structure Work Estimates/Scoping Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs Builds and maintains a project schedule, timeline, and task list and works with Management to ensure resources and budget are tracked Ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved/escalated in a timely manner Works with business, development, and testing teams to identify required changes Understands how various issues affect each other and the outcome of projects Understands expectations that were set with client, recognizes when issues/events may affect delivery, and communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative solutions Follows through with commitments and fosters mutual trust with all working groups Facilitates project status/team meetings effectively and on a regular basis Ensure project team is kept well informed of project changes with open communication Effectively applies Company methodology and enforces project standards QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 2 years experience in Business Analysis/Project Management and Functional Specification development; Business Analyst/PMI certification preferred Experience using Agile and Waterfall methods of software development Strong analytical and project management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements Understands basic Internet and client/server architectures Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks within assigned deadlines Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and MS Project Motivated team player with excellent planning, organization, analytical, and problem solving abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, understanding how to communicate sensitive information tactfully and effectively with proven ability to communicate to senior management
