Description
Raytheon is seeking a System Architect (SA) to work under the direction of the Senior System Architect on the Ocean Observatories Initiative Cyberinfrastructure (OOI/CI) program at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). The SA is a senior member of the CI Architecture team, working in partnership with the Development Team on the development, integration, deployment and verification of the system. This assignment will last is a project that will The SA works with Project Scientists and the System Engineering team to design, plan, and realize the required science and engineering objectives for the ocean observatorys capabilities as a highly complex distributed software system, and on its architecture and interoperations with other national escience infrastructure. In particular, the SA works on functional architecture documentation, system interface definition, and software design. The SA applies UMLbased methods and tools for system architecture documentation, software prototyping and software architecture verification. As a senior member of the CI architecture team and as an active member of multiple integrated subsystem product development teams, the SA provides technical leadership in working with ten OOI development partner organizations and more than twenty OOI CI developers at UCSD and the partner organizations to assemble the OOI as a high performance large scale geographically distributed ocean observatory system of systems. The SA needs to understand the complex technological needs and constraints brought forward by the development partners and evaluate them in the context of the OOI CI system architecture and the system requirements. Required Skills Demonstrated expertise in designing, building and managing complex computing systems based on service oriented architectures. Demonstrated experience in documenting architectures and interfaces according to the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) or equivalent. Can effectively communicate system capabilities by preparing thorough and articulate documentation and participate in or lead formal presentations. Very strong analytic, inductive and deductive reasoning skills. Demonstrated ability to think and work in an organized and effective manner in an environment that has rapidly shifting and often contradictory demands and priorities. Excellent collaborative skills, including the ability to work with other departments, groups and institutions and with managers, engineers and scientists of other disciplines. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to calibrate communication to the appropriate level of the users technical understanding. Extensive, demonstrated experience in reading, synthesizing and maintaining functional system architecture and software implementation designs in UML, MSC and SysML notations Desired Skills
