Description
Epsilon has an interesting career opportunity for a Database Technologist with a balance of skills in database administration and database programming. This opportunity will enable the Database Technologist to work directly with business users in a team oriented environment to design, implement, maintain, and automate procedures for client database environments. Maintain and manage Oracle 10g and 11g RAC databases. Plan, design, enhance, and maintain decision support database solutions using Oracle EE, Oracle EE RAC and Netezza Technologies. Implement, manage and support production infrastructures. Evaluate new technologies and products. Perform database management tasks including database infrastructure design, automation of data loads, performance tuning, SQL programming, space management, backup/recovery, and version control. Support users, tune and troubleshoot data access applications and ad hoc queries. Work closely with the database technology vendors on implementing new leading edge technologies. Create technical designs, implement procedures and coach business users to obtain operational efficiency.QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 5 years experience. Ability to learn new leading edge technologies. Experience working with largescale multiterabyte decision support databases. Strong knowledge of relational database technology and solid SQL programming skills. Experience in measuring, analyzing and tuning the performance of Business Intelligence database applications. Experience working with at least one relational engine in Unix or Linux environment. Knowledge in Unix/Linux operating systems and shell scripting. Strong decisionmaking, organizational, planning and problem solving skills. Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, and work to implement new ideas to automate procedures. Team player with client oriented focus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Technical Knowledge Strong knowledge of Oracle 10/11g. Minimum of 3 years Experience managing and maintaining production RAC databases. Strong performance tuning and trouble shooting skills. Knowledge of RMAN backup and recovery. Database development using SQL, UNIX Shell scripts, Perl or Java. Modeling Tools CA Erwin or Embarcadero ER Studio Monitoring Tools Oracle Grid Control, Embarcadero Performance Center, etc. Middleware technology ODBC, JDBC. Operating Systems AIX, Solaris or Linux. Experience with Netezza a plus.
