Systems Engineer

Description

Purpose of Position Provide deployment and technical service for Tektronix Network Monitoring systems Work closely with the customer to understand their telecommunication networks and performs configuration of Tektronix products to ensure the systems meet the customers' needs Interface with Tektronix Engineers across various departments to resolve issues and to share technical and customer information Essential Functions Integration, testing, administration and troubleshooting of telecommunications hardware and software systems Configuration and customization of the systems to customers' specifications Providing report management and analysis Supplying information regarding assigned projects to other support groups and departments Implementation of new technologies with support from other Tektronix engineers Developing and updating procedures for installation, integration, test, and administration of Tektronix systems Conducting system acceptance testing with customers Providing support to Sales through deployment of field trial systems Assisting with the technical and pricing efforts in response to a proposal or tender request Training the Customer on usage and administration of the system Job Requirements Bachelors Degree and/or Masters Degree in Engineering or Technology Discipline PLUS 5 years of system engineering experience in the telecom industry. Experience should include Integration, testing, administration and troubleshooting of telecommunications hardware and software systems Configuration and customization of the systems to customers' specifications Unix OS Skills (User and some Administration) Customer communication and interaction Telecom networks, protocols and architectures Ability to work independently with little supervision Clear oral and written communications skills Some domestic and international travel may be required (up to 30%) Considered a plus Ability to develop knowledge of Oracle database and Cognos/OLAP report applications Ability to develop the skills to input and retrieve data from the current Clarify Trouble Tracking System and Software Problem Reporting Tools
