Business Objects (BO) Developer

Description

This position requires an individual with strong business acumen and the ability to communicate well and interact with IT, departmental and vendor users.This position will also include tasks related to Extraction, Transformation and Load (ETL) activities, including software infrastructure and tools used by the application development teams to build integration systems. Additionally, this role will lead the resolution of business and technical issues related to the Business Objects (BO) infrastructure and tools, including support.Essential Functions Undertake reporting projects; develop solutions using Business Objects and Related Tools. Gather reporting requirements and develop delivery solutions. Analyze and document existing reports in BO. Analyze and document existing reports in nonBO environments and develop these reports in BO. Design, build, document, and implement Universes and other reporting solutions to support reporting needs across the organization. Troubleshoot/debug reports and resolve technical issues while finetuning universes and reports for performance optimization. Develop end user training content and delivery of training via classes. Prepare time estimates for all reports developed. Maintain documentation on universe and related environments. Creation of adhoc queries and reports that may require subqueries, variables, and other advanced reporting ability. Clearly define and apply best practices for performance and usability of universe. Perform Business Objects upgrades and new releases. Develop Reports using Crystal Reports as needed. Develop Business Performance Management Dashboards in using Crystal XCelcius or similar toolset Discussing business intelligence needs or information with external clients and internal staff. Responsible for administration, database design, security, and maintenance. Other duties and projects as assigned.Qualifications/Requirements BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, with minimum 2 years experience with Business Objects is required. Understands Business Objects toolset capabilities. Implementation experience with Business Objects toolsets is preferred. Experience with BO report migration from version 6.5 to XI is preferred. Experience building Crystal Reports is preferred. Experience writing complex SQL, TSQL is required. Experience working with MS SQL Server 2000/2005 is required. Programming experience in C# or VB.NET is preferred. Experience in Business Objects Universe Modeling with Designer or similar toolsets is required. Strong ETL and OLAP background is preferred. Solid understanding of relational databases is required. Good understanding of Data Warehousing is preferred. Experience working with AS400/DB2 is preferred. Microsoft Office experience a must, especially Word mail merge and Excel Excellent problem solving, organizational and communications skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, enthusiastic and able to adapt to a fastpaced environment. Ability to work crossfunctionally as part of a team as well as an individual contributor
