GIS Developer

Description

The incumbent will be responsible for helping SSA to build a new GIS application using the ESRI framework. The application will provide SSA executives with decision support information based on Congressional districts, regional offices, field offices, etc. The application may be integrated with Google Maps, and it will use a SQL Server database. Skills Requirements The candidate should have experience developing a new GIS application, and they should be proficient in ArcGIS Server 9.3, ArcIMS, and ArcSDE. The candidate should be experienced in working directly with the customer, and he/she should be able to provide recommendations for the most effective approach for the application. The candidate should have strong, proven and demonstrated skills in information technology. Application development experience in a .NET environment would be helpful. The candidate should have several years of experience in using GIS software to include the ESRI framework of ArcGIS Desktop and extensions, ArcIMS, ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE, ArcObjects and the software development kits (SDK). The candidate should be proficient in integrating ESRI tools with other tools, such as Google Maps or BING Maps. The candidate should have strong SQL Server and UNIX skills, and they should be proficient moving geospatial data between GIS software applications in an effective manner. Ability to interface with clients and assist them in defining business processes, requirements and risks and provide consulting services to a customer new to GIS. Education and Certifications Should be certified as a professional GIS Analyst through a recognized professional or education organization or have a related degree or experience.
