Cisco media server provides Any to Any video processing. The server takes video from many vendors video equipment using a wide range of codecs. The business case behind the Media Server is the Video Surveillance market is; Each vendor has interpreted the video standards, each has a different control API, customers run a mix of analog/IP cameras, each customer also runs a mix of vendors, Media server provides a normalized control interface to all of the vendor video gear and the is capable of streaming media to a wide variety of video players. While sounding simple, there are very few companies that do this, let alone do this well. The former BroadWare acquisition does this very well.Requirements Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience with stream media protocols [RTP, RTSP, RTCP] Experience with streaming media formats [MPEG2, MPEG4, H264, MJPEG, AAC, H263] Working knowledge of TCP, UDP, & multicast Excellent problem solving, design and coding skills 25+ years developing commercial Linux server applications 25+ years commercial experience C++ development Proven track record of shipping customer focused products on time with quality Creativity, openness and enthusiasmHighly Desirable Some or All of the Following Experience with media container formats [MP4, AVCHD] Experience with access control systems [e.g. Lenel, Hirsch] Experience shipping Linux appliances or servers within Cisco Exposure to Video Analytic technology
