Summary/ObjectiveThe Network Engineer will be responsible for the companys data network operations. Responsibilities will include the companys network design and daytoday administration to ensure consistent network availability, integrity, and security.Essential FunctionsEngineers, sets up, configures, deploys, maintains, monitors, and supports internal and external networks, including WAN, LAN, remote LAN, Internet, and external network connectivity.Engineers and maintains network systems, applications, security, and configurationsMonitors network performanceTroubleshoots and resolves network performance issuesRecommends and implements upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipmentDevelops and maintains network documentationWorks with ACCENTs clients to ensure client needs are metResearches, recommends, and implements ways to improve technology service deliveryActs as subject matter expert or project team member for projects that include network communicationEnsures that corporate policies and procedures are implementedHas crossfunctional responsibilities with Systems Engineers, Systems Administrators, and Network Administrators, and performs system administration duties as necessarySupervises network and system administrators, and network vendorsPerforms other duties as assigned by managerKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExpert knowledge of network design and technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, VLAN, Routing, OSI Model, Data Circuits such as T1/E1/DS1, T3/E3/DS3, ISDN, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, SNMP, Frame Relay, MPLS, VPN, Ethernet, encryption, SSL, Fiber channel, UTP cabling, fiber optic cabling, VoIP, and emerging network technologies.Expert knowledge of network equipment and software including Cisco IOS, and ASA FirewallsExpert knowledge of VOIP, SIP, QoS, SBC, Voice GatewaysExpert network troubleshooting skills and experience with common software tools for troubleshooting such as ping, trace route, arp, nslookup etc.Expert knowledge of network security practices and technologiesFamiliarity with EIA/TIA/IEEE standards including 802 and 568 standardsExpert knowledge of data communications cablingExpert knowledge of Microsoft networking and Microsoft server operating systems.Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server, IIS server, Exchange server, and other enterprise systemsExpert knowledge of Internet standards and technologiesMust have excellent verbal and written, English communication skillsMust have experience administering networks in a corporate environmentMust be familiar with industry best practices and resources for network administration and be very familiar with software used to monitor and manage networksMust have good business skills, including familiarity with regulatory compliance, writing policies and procedures, and project managementMust be an expert with common office software including Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Access, and Visio.Supervisory responsibilities/AccountabilitiesThe Network Engineers responsibilities will directly impact mission critical business processes. They will work with a high degree of autonomy and be expected to manage their time and responsibilities with minimal supervision. They will manage projects. They may directly or indirectly supervise other employees or contractors. Travel is within the United States and InternationalThe position will require some local travel, by car, between ACCENT officesThe position will require both scheduled, and nonscheduled afterhours availability Physical RequirementsThe Network Engineer will work at a computer for long periods of timeSome lifting and other physical activity will be required (e.g. installing network equipment)The position requires extensive reading from paper and computer monitor, telephone conversations, and conversations in person.Extensive typing on a computer keyboard and using a computer mouse is required
