Job Function/Duties The Clinical Business Analyst is a member of the Enterprise Clinical Systems team in UMHS Medical Center Information Technology (MCIT) Department. The Analyst will participate and contribute in the planning, design, development, configuration, implementation, support, maintenance, and evaluation of UMCareLink to support patient care delivery. The enterprise clinical environment currently includes UMCareLink, CareWeb and the CDR. These enterprise clinical environments are part of the University of Michigan Health System's (UMHS) commitment to provide an integrated electronic health record to support patient care, research and education. Business AnalysisElicit and gather user requirements.Translate user requirements into functional and system specifications and use case documentation.Formulate and define system scope and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable clinical and business systems and industry requirements.Analyze user and business needs; analyze current and future state user processes & workflow via shadowing, focus groups, interviews, surveys, etc., with associated documentation.Participates in system implementation and upgrades.Lead large, complex, enterprisewide clinical systems projects.Implementation of small, medium, large operational and project enhancements. Assist with all related project management tasks as defined and delegated.Communicate and collaborate with clinical and business customers, business stakeholders, and managers to ensure enterprise, organization and project goals are met.Collaborate and participate with all interrelated teams including project management, development, QA, support, training, technical, and infrastructure teams as appropriate. Functional Application SupportUnderstand clinical system application functionality and capabilities.Understand applications primary data sources and other system data sources/interfaces.Understand use of the application by end users and associated workflow impact or changes. Design, configure, test, and maintain components of the SCM item catalog and other configuration items to support institutional workflow and clinical/business needs.Collaborate with clinicians and other UMHS staff to define and implement optimal system design and configuration to ensure safe and efficient patient care services.Unit test configuration to meet desired requirements and workflow needs.Participate in end user communication, support, and training as necessary and appropriate. Manage and prioritize functional enhancement requests. Assist in problem analysis and resolution.Create and modify functional Help and communication documentation as necessary.Use the Remedy application for issue tracking and change/enhancement requests.Serve as a liaison to the vendor. Ad Hoc Team ResponsibilitiesAttend and actively participate in team meetings, Enterprise Clinical Systems (ECS) meetings & MCIT Staff meetings and events (as appropriate).Manage administrative time, i.e., GroupWise mail/calendar, Planview, etc.Advocate for and lead ongoing team process & procedure improvements (Lean initiatives) related to project methodology, project coordination, team dynamics, etc.Mentor, guide, and advise lessexperienced Clinical Systems Analysts.Lead special project initiatives as assigned by IT Administrative Manager.
