Urban Science has developed a proprietary offering called Dealer Business Intelligence (DBI) which is a webbased business management solution that provides dealers, manufacturers, and field staff with the financial reporting, analysis and forecasting tools required to make critical business decisions. The DBI product is an integrated system with an intuitive, streamlined interface that provides an opportunity for users to more effectively manage the performance of their representative organizations. The DBI product is going to be updated to include additional functionality that will require additional staff, both from a contract and a permanent perspective. Although the bulk of the staffing will be done on a contract basis, there most likely will be a portion of the team that Urban Science will seek to convert to permanent employees in order to properly support and maintain the newly minted DBI product. This Sr. Software Developer will be responsible for software design and implementation. This individual will be seen as an expert in their field of technology and will have hands on development responsibilities along with leadership and mentoring responsibilities for more junior developers. Additionally, this resource will implement software designs and oversee the implementation of those designs by other members of the software development team. The job may require additional hours beyond the normal 40hour workweek. This position will be based out of downtown Detroit and requires little out of town travel. Responsibilities Programs and implements new functionality for the DBI software application (including design, coding, code reviews, unit testing, and configuration) Provides technical support utilizing Technical Development software applications such as Visual Studio.NET and SQL Server. Participates in the development of design specifications for DBI with other members of the software development team Works with Practice Leadership and Business Analyst to identify client needs and ensure congruence with Technical Development capabilities Performs quality testing in collaboration with Quality Services staff to identify and correct defects in the DBI product offering Creates necessary technical documentation in support programming and design activities such as release notes, code comments, use cases, and training materials Assists with the development and delivery of technical training on new applications and application updates Other duties as assigned Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Comprehensive knowledge of and specific web development experience in technologies that include ASP.NET, C#, ADO.NET, and the .NET(2.0 and 3.5) framework along with basic knowledge of IIS Visual Studio 2005/2018 and familiarity with TFS. ADO.NET accessing SQL Server is required. Ntier software architectural experience is essential. SQL Server 2005/2018 database design and implementation experience is required along with data modeling, Transact SQL, LINQ, and stored procedures. Proficiency with Agile development methodologies and the identification and application of design patterns Expertise with unit testing at a level sufficient to teach others Ability to prioritize to competing demands, manage multiple concurrent tasks and adapt to changing priorities Brings a cando attitude to the table that would be illustrated by an ability and willingness to collaborate, be team oriented, and have dedication to meeting and exceeding the expectations of other team members Strong organization skills and attention to detail Strong commitment to Urban Science Mission to provide stateof the art solutions to our customers problems worldwide, utilizing scientific problem solving tools and computer technology driven by realworld experiences. Oral communication skills necessary to express ideas clearly to individuals and groups Written communication skills necessary to effectively communicate technical information Ability to analyze problems and identify alternative solutions EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBaccalaureate degree in computer science or related field from an accredited U.S. college or university, or equivalent foreign institution is preferred Five years work experience as a Software Developer or equivalent Experience with basic software development and testing methodologies (performance/load testing, scaffolding development, interactive development, configuration management) Experience with databases, programming, languages, and product development process
