POSITION SUMMARY The Lead DBA is responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating activities related to the analysis and implementation of Oracle database systems and support associated application. This is a hands on position that will require handling daytoday tasks. In addition, this role will be the go to technical resource for all database related stuff. As such, a strong technical foundation in EBS, Hyperion, OBIEE and core Oracle and SQL Server database administration is also required.Manages, mentors, trains and develops the oracle database team at MarkWest.Performs cloning, patching, and code migrations as necessary to support business requirementsProvides and maintains documentation on database systems, configurations, processes and standards.Works with different departments to provide technical assistance to users and troubleshoots and resolves application and database related problemsWorks with different applications teams to ensure database requirements are met; protects data from inappropriate access or data loss; performs security reviews that include Critical patch updates and upgrades.Provides the team and organization with technical guidance and oversight for the database management environmentEnsures that all work performed within Database Administration team is in accordance to corporate objectives and follows IT processes and controlsMaintains database results by setting and enforcing standards and controlsUpgrades database systems and applications by assessing transaction processing and database performanceResponsible for the installation, upgrade, administration and performance tuning of various releases of Oracle.Configures, installs, tests and maintains databases and their associated software such as version upgrades, patches and toolsMonitors and manages database performance.Follows Companys change management policies and proceduresDevelops Disaster and Recovery procedures to ensure minimum data loss.Required Skills and Knowledge An excellent troubleshooting skill is required.Expertise in applying patches to all releases of Oracle EBS versions is required.General UNIX and scripting skills to support Oracle environments running on UNIX/LINUX is needed.Should have experience supporting Hyperion, EBS, GIS, Flowcal, Quorum and OBIEE environments.Experience with Weblogic is a plus.Experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server environments is a plus.Should have ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and nontechnical users.Demonstrated ability to communicate well with management and peers.Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and participate in an oncall rotation
