Description
The Senior Specialist is a system technician that has a working knowledge of WINDOWS and the fundamentals for administration of computer systems. This position is required to aid in the day to day administrative activities including defining users file system creation/management, troubleshooting, backup and restore, application support, security and disaster recovery planning. Adheres to problem resolution and escalation procedures, documenting, and responding to all WINDOWS systems problems and resolving them on a timely basis. Performs other related duties as assigned. Interacts with other system administrators, applications, helpdesk, network team, vendors and users relating to applications associated with a productioncomputing environment. May require work outside of traditional business hours. Must be available for rotating oncall duties.Skills Responsibilities Bachelors degree and/or equivalent of 5 to 7+ years experience in system administration Experience with TCP/IP At least 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following Implementation, operation, support and maintenance of large scale WINDOWS systems, preferably across multiple hardware platforms Identifies enduser/application requirements Excellent configuration practices of system hardware and server operating system software and maintenance of procedural documentation Works with the Security Administration area to implement user access to systems and assure proper security and access is maintained Responsible for application support and installations of thirdparty software Responsible to track the success in troubleshooting of system problems as reported by users or Information Technology staff/Customer Support Center Excellent skills in monitoring system performance, test and implement patches and Hardware firmware upgrades Creation and maintenance of system scripts to automate and/or enhance manual procedures Help maintain an efficient and accurate disaster recovery plan Responsible that the system environments support the customers business processes Verify and update the documentation for WINDOWS team Uphold and comply with all corporate policies and procedures Setup and maintain disks/volumes/filesystems with 3rd party packages (Veritas Volume Manager, OnLine Disk Suite) OnCall Level Two support for WINDOWS Team per rotation cycle Provide second level support for the gedas Corporate Support Center Provide personnel and infrastructure resources for applications testing Provides production support on assigned systems Implementation of plans to satisfy established and new requirements in project timeframes Assist in defining WINDOWS operation standards, processes, and procedures Assist in situation analysis and recommendation for problem solving Act as consulting expert, guiding our clients to implement the best practices in systems management PC/Desktop experience using Microsoft Win95 or NT, Win 98, Windows 2000 and XP Experience with Oracle and SQL server Exposure to EMC Symmetrix Storage Devices, Disk Keeper and McAfee and management software Expert Knowledge of WINDOWS platforms 6+ years exposure to Enterprise servers 1 year exposure to desktops systems Knowledge in setting up disk with Veritas Volume manager Excellent knowledge of scripting Automate lower level system admin functions Understand paging, swapping, interprocess communication
