Description
The Sr. SQL Database Administrator builds database systems that are highquality, highperformance and scalable to meet the demands of our rapidly growing and everchanging environment. This team member uses repeatable practices to ensure data availability, integrity and security and interacts with Developers, Business Analysts, Network and SAN Engineers, and other team members involved in project planning, development and testing.Responsibilities Install and configure SQL servers Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as rebuilding indexes, upgrades and storage management Manage database availability, backup, and restoration and recovery systems Monitor database system resources and performance Oversee data consistency and thirdparty interfaces Design high availability architecture and handle disaster recovery planning Initiate and lead project deliverables and drive a higher sense of urgency for risk reduction Set the technical direction through the definition and implementation of standards, technical roadmaps, process and control documents Develop strategic and tactical solutions that allow the team to be successful Participate in the oncall rotationRequirement Bachelor's degree with five years of database administration experience Database administration, design and architecture experience in Windows/SQL server environment Experience as a database administrator working on SQL Server 2012 and higher versions Expertise in performance tuning/optimization and the ability to troubleshoot problems and quickly resolve issues Knowledge of high availability technologies and disaster recovery (always on, replication, clustering, log shipping and database partitioning) Knowledge of TSQL and the ability to review the code Knowledge of public cloud infrastructures, such as AWS and/or Azure Knowledge of SQL Server management in cloud environments (PaaS/SaaS/IaaS) Knowledge of migrating onpremises SQL Server databases into the cloud (AWS or Azure) Good understanding of AWS cloud technologies such as RDS, EC2, S3 Storage, EBS Volumes and CloudWatch Solid understanding of networks, storage, tiered application environments and security History of being a good team player who is flexible, shares knowledge, helps others, and collaborates well within and outside the team Strong communication and research skills
