Description
Job Description The Information Technology (IT) Group is responsible for the Wells Fargo (WF) Funds Management Group's (FMG) Data Warehouse (DW) Environment. The IT group consists of business system consultants, application software engineers, quality control analysts, project managers/Scrum masters, a data architect, operational analysts, and technology managers. The DW team, that is part of FMG IT, partners with internal clients such as the Business Reporting Team, Marketing, Sales, Finance, the Call Center, and other various teams to provide and support DW solutions. The current FMG DW environment consists of the following main entities Oracle database structures Informatica ETL Cognos Business Intelligence The following exist within this environment but to a lesser degree and/or are in a contained state o Sybase database structures o SQL Server database structures o IBM DataStage ETL o Crystal Business Intelligence The Data Warehouse Architect position will serve as a technical expert responsible for the design, development and implementation of the FMG Data Warehouse, Data Integration, and Business Intelligence solutions. This position will be responsible for end to end data warehouse design from data acquisition through data presentation, leveraging handson experiences to maximize utility and minimize cost. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following Required Skills 10 or more years of overall IT development experience, including 7 or more years of consecutive development and architecture of an Enterprise Data Warehouse 7 or more years experience with technical development and leadership within a BI and DW environment with significant experience in the majority of these activities o Designing star schema / dimensional data models o Designing normalized data models for historical data warehouses o Designing and developing with ETL tools o Designing and developing with MOLAP/ROLAP/OLAP tools o Designing and developing with relational reporting tools Specific software skills o ERWin for Data Modeling or similar o Relational DBMS Oracle and SQL Server o Informatica ETL o OLAP/ROLAP/MOLAP tools (Cognos preferred) Experience following either Agile SCRUM or waterfall project methodology in a DW/BI environment with 2 or more years of agile Provide a leadership and ownership role in the design, development, and implementation of the FMG DW. This includes but is not limited to the following data modeling, data architecture, version control, release management, change management, security, purge strategies, quality strategies, testing strategies, data replication strategies, backup/recovery strategies, performance monitoring, ETL tools and templates and strategies, user schema strategies, and BI strategies Handson development of ETL processes to load the FMG DW and integrate systems, assuring accuracy Monitor and tune the FMG DW as necessary to meet required SLAs and BCP needs Authorize and control the release process, the change control process, and the version control process for all application software, reports, data, and cubes from one environment into the next Experience evaluating and recommending emerging technologies, technical and discipline standards, and methodologies within a data warehouse and data integration environment Experience mentoring and developing a DW team and developing internal training curriculum Selfdirected; takes initiative Able to effectively organize own work and sometimes the work of others Able to work on multiple projects / tasks at any given time The ability to communicate effectively and professionally. This involves both oral and written forms of communication, and the ability to field questions from all professional levels. Ability to effectively and efficiently manage difficult situations. Strong decisionmaking skills and organizational skills. Ability to be proactive, assume responsibility, work under time constraints, and assimilate information rapidly. Capability to remain calm and collected during stressful situations. Four year degree in Information Systems or comparable field such as Engineering or Mathematics, or equivalent experience Preferred Skills Knowledge of or experience with the Financial Services Industry Relational Databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase) Data Warehouse Data Architecture using the Kimball Data Warehouse Methodology ErWin Data Modeling CASE Tool XML, including schema definitions and transformations Enterprise application data integration Firm understanding of data base security concepts and rules
