Job Description Duties Lead and participate in VMware technology roadmaps, testing and proof of concepts, solution validation.Participate in system design improvements and performance enhancements.Provide Tier 3 support for VMware environment. Troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion and provide root cause analysis, involve the appropriate resources as needed. Act as team lead for escalation of issues.Identify current operational process inefficiencies and provide recommendations for improvement.Provide expert technical architectural support and guidance for solution opportunities that involve virtualization, cloud infrastructure, management and security, including integration with certain select 3rd party products.Managed current environment of VMware vCenter 5.x, vCenter Operations, VMware Update Manager, VMA.Manage the implementation of new hosts, patching, upgrading and maintaining VMware vSphere server infrastructure.Manage and maintain current environments using HA/DRS/sDRS, host profiles and distributed virtual switches.Produce metrics, trending and growth reports to show environment utilization and forecast growth needs.Fiber channel storage management (3PAR/Hitachi/Violin) with Brocade switches.Strong troubleshooting experience, ability to zero on bottlenecks in the environment.Network proficiency, VLANs, trunking, TCP/IP routing and switching, and general network design.Key member of team to evaluate and implement multiple Disaster Recovery products including VERITAS Global Clustering, VMware Site Recovery Manager, SAN and Host based replication technologies. Demonstrated experience implementing and managing HA capabilities in VMware and Storage technologies, including experience with replication.Anticipates and interprets business/customer needs, assesses requirements, and identifies solutions.Participates in Symantec product lifecycle process, contributing to and/or creating product and technical requirements, detailed design documents including transaction, capacity and bandwidth models, systems definitions, and operational procedures as part of this process.Ensures that projects are properly accepted into the Infrastructure team working in a timely and efficient manner and smoothly transitioned into production.Provides guidance and accept accountability for the performance and reliability of various crossplatform applications and services, and ensure that system failures are restored in a timely manner, measured against SLAs.Experience with ITIL concepts and practices including Change Management, Service Level Management and Operational Level Agreements strongly preferred.Provides rootcause analysis, contributes to the knowledge base, and provides recommendations for continuous improvements to workflow, process, and technology.Establish and maintain working relationships within Infrastructure, Operations, Product Development teams, vendors and contractors.Be able to work independently and come up to speed quickly on new technologies.Responsible for documenting configurations and writing deployment plans.Occasional oncall duties required.Executing special projects or other related duties as required.Job Requirement Skills Bachelor
