Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following As a Network Engineer working at Starbucks you will have end to end ownership (architecture/design/scale) of our current and newly developing networks Drive the scaling of our current network designs to meet the demand of our customers Work closely with our internal customers on new designs/solutions, bringing them from concept to launch Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network adheres to these standards Work closely with our automation and monitoring teams to assist in defining the tools we require Drive and support innovation from the NIC to the core. Drive operational excellence projects delivering improvements in our network quality and reliability Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solutions day to day on our network Work with a wide range of complex technologies Review and implement changes on the networkParticipate in developing RFPs based on requirements, sets up vendor conferences, evaluates bids and recommends the selected network services or products to the appropriate management entity. Meets with vendors to discuss product offerings, addresses technical issues/deficiencies and influences new products and services to meet growing and changing requirements.Leads, coaches, and mentors other team members. Performs crosstraining and facilitates information sharing among team members. Basic Qualifications Our ideal candidate has significant experience designing large scale Cisco secured, routed, and switched networks, 5 years Extensive knowledge and industry experience in design, configuration, and management of network security technologies including but not limited to Cisco ASA, FWSM, and Access Control Lists, 8 yearsIndepth knowledge of and significant experience with major Internet protocols BGP, OSPF, MPLS, TCP, 5 years Background in large scale datacenter network design, 5 years Must be comfortable working in a highly virtualized (network and system) environment. 3 years Indepth knowledge of and experience with major router platforms; specifically with Cisco 39xx, 45xx, 65xx, ASR1xx, Nexus 5K, 7K including all compatible supervisory and line cards for these platforms. 5 yearsCandidates should also have had significant past experience with, and expertise in many of the following protocols & technologies DWDM, T1/DS1, 802.1d VLANs/STP, IPv4 & IPv6, TCP (internals & flow control), BGP, OSPF, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP, TACACS, IPSEC & VPNs, netflow, DNS, HTTP. 8 yearsTechnical and operational knowledge of network services including F5 and WAN acceleration technologies 3 yearsSoftware development/programming/scripting skills are highly desired specifically Python, Ruby, or Perl. 1 year
