Description

Responsibilities Senior Database Administrator installs/configures/manages large oracle databases for Covisints enterprise applications and solutions within a 24x7 environment. The Sr. DBA will be responsible for database configuration, tuning and troubleshooting; provide critical technical support to product teams to offer solutions in multiple industry solutions; and participates in infrastructure capacity planning, technology reviews, security audit, change control process, and disaster recovery planning. This role must have the ability to communicate with system users to identify, explain, and resolve problems; along with the ability to take instructions and proactively ensure system functionality. This is a high paced work environment that requires an individual who is capable of multitasking while maintaining an exceptional work output level. Primary Roles/Responsibilities Maintain the integrity and performance of all databases.Provide technical support related to the overall health and maintenance of the Covisint storage environments in support of 24/7 operationsPerform routine and proactively monitor the server/system health to ensure minimal to no downtime.Work with engineering and other operations teams to identify and troubleshoot operational and performance related issues.Be an active participant in the rotational pager duty to provide oncall support, 7x24x365.Manage and maintain documentation as it relates to all aspects of the job duties.Support the incident management process as it relates to details of incidents and perform followup through to resolution on all incidents.Assist in training of other DBAs and respective operations personnel.Qualifications 5+ year experience in Oracle Database AdministrationStrong skills in database instance tuning and monitoring, sql tuning and troubleshootingStrong skills in database backup, recovery and data move using RMAN, expdp/impdp, flashback technology etc.Strong skills in Oracle RAC, Oracle data guard and physical standby databaseOracle 11G experienced a must.Experience working in UNIX environment and good Shell scripting skillsGood understanding of network protocol including TCP/IPDemonstrates initiative to own tasks, execute with minimal direction, and deliver quality outcomes.Demonstrates initiative to acquire and improve upon existing knowledge on a continuous basis.Desired knowledge of other tools and solutions including but not limited to RDBMS including SQL server, MYSQL, Elasticsearch, Hadoop, Riak, chef, along with monitoring tools like graphite and NagiosExperience with configuration management tools, such as ChefExperience with log management tools, such as ELKExperience with storage administrationExperience in a 24x7 operations environmentStrong problem solving and troubleshooting skillsAbility to master multiple operational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse team.Ability to operate within a fast paced and challenging work environment.Effective oral and written communication skills.Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24x7x365 environment.Ability to learn new complex technologies quickly.Knowledge of ITIL process.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant areas
