Aetna is taking on a major initiative to redesign and rebuild many of its customer facing digital assets. This effort will include a completely new approach to developing software within Aetna, using the latest design approaches, technologies, and processes. Aetna Digital is a newly formed startup like business unit within Aetna, which will design, build and deliver a completely new and integrated digital experience for our users.Aetna is seeking a talented, Senior Android Developer to join our team. You will be developing software on a highly visible project dedicated to solving some of the toughest problems that exist today in the healthcare insurance industry. As we evolve our mobile offerings, we need an Android platform lead who can mentor other engineers, establish strong coding best practices, and interface with Product, backend, UX and system architecture teams while building out high quality application features.Fundamental Components Proven track record of successfully delivering Android applications in to the hands of customersSound understanding of and experience with Object Oriented ProgrammingProficient writing JUnit and Espresso UI tests for native applications. May perform or assist with integration and system testing, according to detailed test plans to ensure highquality systems.Proficient with GradleProficient with GitAbility to work effectively with Product organization, UX, backend and management teamsIndependently designs and writes code, and may lead others in the development of cost effective application and program solutions.Leads or acts as chief technical contributor to translation of business requirements to technical specifications.Leads or acts as a technical contributor in the design of new applications or enhancements including integration of purchased solutions.Independently performs and assists other team members in providing ongoing system maintenance, research, and problem resolution.With limited direction, supports the implementation of systems into production.Responsible for Code Asset Management for an application or set of applications. Supports and promotes the reuse of assets across the organization.May lead or act as a subject matter expert for projects and/or service requests impacting an application or set of applications.Serves as team leader to direct technical activities, while also providing support for small and large highly complex projects that require increased skill across multiple technical environments and disciplines, that have system wide impact and that integrate across the organization.Receives some supervision and direction as regards prioritization of work but is competent to work independently and to offer direction and oversight to assigned team.
