POSITION SUMMARYUnder direct supervision the individual will provide Systems Engineering support for Virtualization and Software Defined Storage (SDS) solutions. In this role, you will become knowledgeable in Aetnas computing environments to enable Aetna to meet service level agreements and respond effectively to changing business requirements.Fundamental Components Perform software upgrades, and overall technical support for Aetna's Virtual and SDS solutions. Under direct supervision perform daily systems support for virtual server platforms and related systems management software. Provide technical support to customer areas. Maintain configuration management documentation. Interacts effectively and positively with peers, vendors, and customers. Gains familiarity with technology strategies that support business objectives. Adheres to usage guidelines and standards for technology exploitation and cost effectiveness.Becomes knowledgeable on critical components of the technology environment and applies skills gained to work assignments.BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired Fouryear college degree in IT related field or equivalent work experience. System admin or similar type experience Knowledge of software/application development, testing, and/or software life cycle Knowledge of computer systems and components, i.e. installing and configuring hardware and software, etc. Understanding of responsibilities related to operations and engineering support model.EDUCATIONThe highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATIONThe IT Technical Training Program is a 24month rotational program targeted at earlierincareer talent. This job is specific to the Virtual Engineering track. Rotation tracks have been developed to provide a path for members to follow as they journey towards their final placement. The paths are intended to ensure that members are exposed to the many different skills they will need upon completion of the program. Within these tracks, all program members will be supported by rotation managers as well as senior level mentors. Rotation length can vary but are typically 6 months long and all program members will go through an initial onboarding orientation as well as various core trainings throughout the life of the program.
